About Us

Company History
In the Twelfth Century A.D., the Abbot of Shrewsbury established a corn mill in the quaintly named village of Ruyton XI Towns, in Shropshire England. Today, over 800 years later, Platt Mill is the home of Dairi-Pak, a sheet plant with a turnover in 2006 in excess of £6.5 million.

The company was formed in 1988 by Brian Gray, (formerly Manufacturing Director of Express Foods (UK) Ltd, one of the country's largest dairy companies), on the site of a 100 acre farm which had become established at Platt Mill in more recent times - there can be few sheet plants anywhere in the world set in such idyllic surroundings. The decidedly rural location might be considered by some to be a disadvantage, but Brian disagrees, "We might appear to be in the middle of nowhere, but we are just minutes away from the A5, a major trunk road linking North Wales with the Midlands. We have all the benefits of working in this beautiful environment, together with lower rural business rates, and we have the added advantage of being a village-based company, with a very high quality and loyal local work-force." The company is now owned and run by current Managing Director Tim Gray (Brian’s son) and is currently undergoing a programme of substantial investment and change to bring the facilities right up to date.

Sheet Plant Association
Dairi-Pak's , membership of the UK Sheet Plant Association, illustrates our commitment to the independent Sheet Plant sector of our industry. Membership of the SPA has enabled Dairi-Pak to benchmark our own performance against others in our industry, take advantage of industry specific training and generally benefit from networking with other sheet plants and suppliers to our industry. "The overall objective of the Sheet Plant Association is to raise awareness of the sheet plant sector and promote 'best practice' amongst all its members." comments Tim Gray, Vice Chairman of the Sheet Plant Association. Dairi-Pak were the first Sheet Plant in the UK to receive the highly coveted Five Star Accreditation. This ‘best practice’ award has been instrumental in raising the standard in the Sheet Plant Sector, with over 30 sheet plants now having achieved Five Star Accreditation.

Investors In People
In August 1999 Dairi-Pak received the Investors In People accreditation, illustrating the company's commitment to its employees' future and that of the company. Dairi-Pak's philosophy is simple - it is a team effort, the company is only as good as the people it employs - therefore it is in everyone's interest that all staff are developed and well trained.
