Machine & Materials Handling Investment at Platt Mill

In line with Dairi-Pak’s ongoing improvements to their corrugated box production facility in rural Shropshire, Dairi-Pak have announced a programme of major investments to further modernise and improve production capabilities at their Platt Mill site.

Orders have been placed with Fox Engineering for a new TCY 6PA-FGT Flexo Folder Gluer (FFG) as a replacement for two older case makers.  Tim Gray, owner and MD of Dairi-Pak, confirms

“The new casemaker will complement our existing TCY casemaker and will give us more capacity and some contingency should either machine be down for planned or unplanned maintenance” he continues  “We have been delighted with our existing TCY that was installed new 5 years ago; it has proved to be an excellent machine.  We had no hesitation in adding a larger format TCY to our plant here in Shropshire".

In addition to the new Casemaker major changes to the layout of the factory are being undertaken to incorporate a new OMS Pallet Strapper to be supplied by M&K Trading and a materials handling system to cope with the output from 2 casemakers and a flatbed die cutter. The line will handle the strapping and stretch wrapping of 1 pallet/minute during times of peak production.

Mr Gray concludes

“It is important for the future of Dairi-Pak that we have the correct machinery to manufacture our current order book, maintain our extremely high service level to our valued customers, maintain our competitiveness and attract new business”.

The new case maker will further expand Dairi-Pak's capabilities to produce regular corrugated cases, shelf and retail ready packs, E-commerce packaging and subscription boxes and packs.  Dairi-Pak will continue to push the printing capabilities of both machines, working hard to achieve maximum impact for our customer's designs.

The installation and works are scheduled to take place over the Christmas shutdown period to minimise impact on day to day operations, with some advance work being undertaken around operational machinery in advance.

We would be pleased to welcome you to site in the New Year if you would like to see the new case maker in action.  Drop us a line to organise a visit with one of our team .
